The World Wrestling Championship continues in Budapest, capital of Hungary. The Greco-Roman wrestlers in 66, 74 and 120 kg categories competed on the last day of the tournament.
Our World and European Champion Hasan Aliyev (66 kg) joined the competition from 1/32 final and confidently reached the final, having won against wrestlers from Croatia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Hungary. The bout against the Hungarian wrestler, the silver medalist of the London Olympics, was especially interesting and tense. In the semifinal Hasan Aliyev lost to Islambek Albiyev, the winner of Beijing Olympics, and fought for the bronze medal. However this match was also unsuccessful for our wrestler and he completed the championship in the fifth place.

Our representative in 72 kg category, Rafig Huseinov, consequently won against his Serbian and Croatian rivals, however then lost to the Turkish wrestler. As his rival could not win in the semifinal, our wrestler lost his chance to fight for the bronze medal.

In 120 kg category ZaurMehraliyev joined the competition from 1/8 final. He lost his very first match to the silver medalist of the London Olympic Games. As his rival reached the final, he received second life to join the repechages. However, Zaur could not take advantage of this chance.
